Perspective

Source:sora

Perspective, i think that's one thing that we all lack in life. It is, by definition, unavoidable. but the true problem lies in not actively seeking out other  or other's perspective on matters you concern yourself with. most of the time we wonder why people act the way they do, think the way they think, when we've never stopped to consider what its like on there side of the fence. for instance i've always wondered, until very recently, how it is the western world tolerates homosexuality, which ive always found unnatural(like icky).
But i only recently considered the social and educational factors that went into me believing the things i do, and looking back it makes sense, growing up in a highly religious country in which homosexuals are looked upon worse than murders and their existence is only one of a vague rumor of a night club here and a back alley room there, its been easy to paint them with all that is bad in society and not question it, since its reinforced by everyone that you know and meet. you never meet a person with a different perspective, either because such people don't speak out for fear of ostracization or physical harm, or most likely such people aren't around.
That's why reading books and exploring different cultures and most importantly having a dialogue with yourself(introspection) after these exercises is very important to see how they compare and contrast with you're belief system, and you might be surprised that most often that not you'll find out that the position you hold is untenable at best and downright violent and abusive at worst. We should strive to gain as much perspective as we can about this world, because in doing so we can see how millions of people lived and lost their lives.
